SimpleDorms: Reimagining Our Communities

Socially Subsidized Housing

Most people in today’s world long for meaningful connections and moments. This can be better achieved through developing & creating safe spaces for everyone, which will ultimately lead to safer communities across the globe.

When looking at the problems today, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs comes to mind. Some criticize the theory saying, “can find exceptions to it, such as the military, police, firefighters, etc. who will risk their safety for the well-being of others or parents who will sacrifice their basic needs for their children”. Heroic actions can come with a cost, however if successful, the opposite occurs. Not only for the hero but society.

Transcendence Needs

Maslow also felt the “fullest realization in giving oneself to something beyond oneself—for example, in altruism or spirituality”. When examining this idea, it is not unique to Maslow and his Hierarchy, he is simply tapping into greater truths, and presenting them in a way that is easier for modern society to digest.

Studying Transcendental Meditation, various philosophies, and being attuned, as part of a Reiki Level 2 Certification, clarity, and understanding of how most of the philosophies that deal with people reaching greater levels of contentment are one and the same.

“He equated this with the desire to reach the infinite. "Transcendence refers to the very highest and most inclusive or holistic levels of human consciousness, behaving and relating, as ends rather than means, to oneself, to significant others, to human beings in general, to other species, to nature, and to the cosmos.”

SimpleDorms employs this concept when approaching hunger and homelessness.
