There were 217 homeless families with children, a total of 662 individuals, living in Austin - representing 28% of the total homeless population.
There are nearly 8,000 homeless people in San Francisco. A quarter with families with children.
These numbers are manageable. In a time where our focus has shifted from what is essential, and the added threat of natural disasters, refugee, migrant and hunger crises; helping others to better our communities, families and ourselves, is imperative.
This inclusive housing initiative will apply a fee on top of the already reasonable rent. The payment and any amount paid above the tenant’s base rent will be directed towards our socially subsidized housing initiatives. By providing safe spaces for hardworking socially responsible individuals, we aim to create and sustain safer communities for everyone.
We do not need tent cities; we need to rebuild our cities. Breathing new life into foreclosed, condemned and abandoned properties that are eager to serve their purpose. With these simple designs and a humble yet bold vision, we forge the groundwork to raise awareness and end the unnecessary scourges of hunger and homelessness, that plague so many individuals, families, children, veterans and our society.
